They went in a haunted house. Everyone warned them not to go, but they didn’t care and went in. Suddenly they all heard someone lock the door, they started to freak out. Owen screamed for help, the friends suddenly heard a voice and got even more frightened. The staff members tried to open the door but it won’t budge. Later, Owen and his friends heard another voice saying “Only way you can get out is by answering three riddles, you will be given three chances for each riddle and if you get any of them wrong you will be eliminated.”

Five friends went to explore a house. One of them said “Don’t go”, but why?

Owen gave an answer but the haunted house echoed with a loud bang and a red light indicated a wrong answer. “You now have two more chances left.” Rolled the voice. They all were very scared and one by one started to turn on Owen. “Coming here was your idea” shouted one of the friends. “Because of you we might never see the day of light ever again” cried another. Owen was also terrified but he stood his ground and said that “We have to work together to escape this creepy place.” They all started to work together forgetting about their grudges. As they were working the voice alerted them that they had only 10 seconds left to answer the riddle. Owen panicked and gave it a random guess, the entire room was covered with green light and the voice said “Correct answer.”

The boys were relieved but the voice continued with another riddle.

Never resting, never still. Moving silently from hill to hill. It does not walk, run or trot. All is cool where it is not.

All the friends got confused because of how long the riddle was, but Owen was smart and determined to get his friends out. After some thinking he shouts “SUN, SUN IS THE ANSWER OF THIS RIDDLE.” Again the room lit up with green light and the voice said “Correct answer.” They all cheered with excitement and relief. To kill the mood the voice yells “Get ready for the last and toughest riddle.”

What has four eyes, but can’t see?

After challenging their brains Owen saw one of his friends who was wearing glasses and blurted “Glasses?” Fortunately the light turned green but the room still started to collapse and fill up with a green toxic gas, everything went pitch black. Owen heard his mom’s voice telling him to wake up, he realized it was all a nightmare and everyone was safe.

Note just for your information: this story is written by 7 year old Mina Khan resident of Saudi Arabia and a student of grade 2 only the riddles in this story were taken from the internet but the story built up came from her own curious mind.
